Decommissioning Training
We offer a range of courses suitable for working in Decommissioning; these can be booked individually or as a block booking under our Safe Decommissioning Programme
Essential safety / site access
- CSCS card or equivalent site competency card (often via CITB Health, Safety & Environment test)
- Basic or Advanced First Aid at Work (1–3 days)
- Working at Height (1 day)
- Manual Handling (half–1 day)
- Confined Space Awareness / Entry (1 day)
- Asbestos Awareness (half–1 day) — mandatory where asbestos risk exists
- Fire Warden / Fire Awareness (half–1 day)
General decommissioning / technical awareness
- Decommissioning Awareness / Introduction to Decommissioning (1 day)
- Dismantling and Removal Techniques (practical short course, 1–3 days)
- Lifting & Slinging / Banksman & Slinger (1–2 days)
- Hot Works / Welding Safety (half–1 day)
- Electrical Safety / Safe Isolation (1 day) — if working near electrical systems
- Pipework and Vessel Preparation (short practical modules)
Hazard-specific and regulation-focused
- Radiation Protection / Radiation Awareness (half–1 day) — for nuclear or radiological risks
- Oil Spill Response / Environmental Awareness (1 day)
- Chemical Hazards / COSHH Awareness (half–1 day)
- Permit-to-Work systems & Isolation Procedures (half–1 day)
Project & management short courses (for supervisors)
- Decommissioning Project Management / Planning (1–2 days)
- HAZOP / Risk Assessment & Job Safety Analysis (1–2 days)
- NEBOSH General Certificate (5 days) — not short but commonly required for supervisors
Industry or employer-specific training
- Offshore Survival/BOSIET (3 days) — for offshore oil & gas decommissioning
- Site-specific induction and competency modules (duration varies)
- Nuclear-sector courses (e.g., ONR/NNL briefings) — sector-specific mandatory modules
